Member Testimonial: CARIS User Conference & IC-ENC Bespoke Training

Rizal Yuniar Malawi, Bathymetric Data Processing and Management Officer, Pushidrosal, Indonesia shares his experience.

Attending the IC-ENC CARIS User Conference & Bespoke Training 2025 in Manila was a pivotal moment in my hydrographic career, especially in my role as the person in charge of developing the S-102 Bathymetric Surface Data Centre in Pushidrosal, Indonesia. Before joining this event, I had limited knowledge of the step-by-step process for creating S-102 datasets specifically and the S-100 framework in general, which is essential for the future of hydrography. Through this training, I gained a comprehensive understanding of the S-100 framework and the methodologies required for the accurate and efficient creation of not only S-102 data but also S-101 and S-104 data. The hands-on exercises via the IC-ENC Learning Cloud and expert guidance provided me with the technical skills and confidence needed to implement these standards effectively.

I am truly grateful to have been part of this well-organized event by IC-ENC. The knowledge I acquired will not only enhance my work but also allow me to share valuable insights with my colleagues in Pushidrosal, Indonesia. By disseminating this expertise, we can collectively improve the quality and efficiency of our bathymetric data management, ultimately benefiting the broader maritime community. This experience has reinforced my commitment to advancing hydrographic practices and ensuring that our data centre aligns with international standards for safer and more efficient navigation.
