First training course held in Africa

Between the 11th and 19th of November IC-ENC delivered its first Validation Training Course on the African continent. 11 delegates from 6 ENC producers attended the training course in Alexandria, Egypt.

The course started with ECDIS and how the encoding of ENC cells influences display and the core functionality of this system. Further modules covered the process and resources used for validating ENCs which were reinforced through practical exercises. Finally, a module on future developments covered the new S-100 standards and the group converted an S-57 ENC to the new draft S-101 standard. In addition to the content covered the event provided an excellent oppportunity to build regional connections in support of cooperation and collaboration.
