Faroe Islands joins as 46th IC-ENC member
IC-ENC is pleased to welcome the Faroe Islands (Umhvørvisstovan) as its 46th member. Umhvørvisstovan, the Faroese environment agency, was formally given responsibility of Faroese charting from the 1st January 2020.
We will work with Umhvørvisstovan providing training and supporting material as the team takes on ENC production and maintenance from Denmark.
Around 20 cells of Faroese waters will continue to be distributed under the DK code at this stage but a new producer code D2 will be adopted in the future.
Lisa Johansson, Cartographer at Umhvørvisstovan said “We’re delighted to be a member of IC-ENC. The ability to collaborate with other members and the quality assurance IC-ENC provides, gives us peace of mind that we’re protecting mariners and providing reliable and user-friendly services.”
Tom Richardson, Technical and Standards manager at IC-ENC commented “We are always thrilled to welcome new members and are very pleased to be working with Umhvørvisstovan. The success of IC-ENC is based on simple cooperative principles with the protection of the mariner at its heart, and we look forward to collaborating with our newest member.”
